Books and Authors in the month of January

Book titled Nathuram Godse - The Story of an Assassin released
       The book, titled ‘Nathuram Godse – The Story of an Assassin’ and written by Anup Ashok Sardesai, is released at the government-owned Ravindra Bhavan in Margao by BJP leader and the bhavan’s chairman Damodar Naik.
       The book narrates the story of Nathuram Vinayakrao Godse who died an untimely death and his brother suffered a life of immense mental torture. It also speaks of the family of Godse who faced countless abuses and humiliations.

Nisid Hajari’s book Midnight’s Furies on India’s Partition wins USD 5,000 prize
       A book on India’s partition and its fatal consequences has won a prestigious USD 5,000 prize in the US.
       Nisid Hajari’s book ‘Midnight s Furies: The Deadly Legacy of India’s Partition’ won the 2016 William E Colby Award.
       Midnight’s Furies, Hajari’s first book, covers the 1947 partition of India and the violence that surrounded that event.

Volume II of memoirs of President Pranab Mukherjee released at Rashtrapati Bhavan
       The second volume of memoirs of President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee titled The Turbulent Years 1980-1996" was released at a function held in Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Veer Gaatha Series of Books on Param Veer Chakra Awardees launched
       The Union Minister of Human Resource Development Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani launched ‘Veer Gaatha’ a series of books on Param Veer Chakra awardees in New Delhi.
       The Union Minister felicitated and expressed her gratitude to the families of Param Veer Chakra awardees for the sacrifices made by them for the country.
       She also appreciated the effort made by National Book Trust who materialised this initiative in collaboration with Indian army and Ministry of Defence.

PM releases unique illustrated version of Shri-Durga-Saptashati
       The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, released a unique, illustrated version of Shri-Durga-Saptashati – an illustrated book of the glory of the Goddess.
       The book has been compiled by Dr. Sandeep Joshi, a research scholar from Rajasthan.

PM releases "The Z Factor," a book written by Shri Subhash Chandra
       The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, released a book named "The Z Factor" written by Shri Subhash Chandra.
       The Prime Minister described Shri Subhash Chandra as a person who always cared for the weaker sections of society.

Book titled Jawaharlal Nehru and The Indian Polity in Perspective released by Hamid Ansari
       The Vice President of India, Shri M. Hamid Ansari has said Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru left an indelible mark on the making of modern India.
       Addressing the gathering after releasing the book “Jawaharlal Nehru and The Indian Polity in Perspective”, edited by Prof. (Dr.) P.J. Alexander, at Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala.

PM releases book written by Jain Acharya through Video Conferencing
       Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a book titled “ MARU BHARAT SARU BHARAT “( My India Noble India ) written by Jain Acharya Ratnasundersuriswarji Maharaj through video conference
       Addressing the book release function organized by Sahitya Satkar Samiti of Ratnatrayee Trust held in Mumbai, the Prime Minister lauded the works of Acharya Ratnasundersuriswarji Maharaj.

Shatrughan’s book aims barbs at BJP leaders
       The book release, with senior BJP leaders L.K. Advani and Yashwant Sinha sharing the stage with the film star, saw candid discussions on politics within the BJP.
       The jibe was seen to be aimed at the widespread perception that veterans like Mr.Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi have been sidelined by making them part of the mentors’ club.

Harper Lee's “Go Set a Watchman” topped 2015 US Bestseller List
       Harper Lee’s second novel Go Set a Watchman topped the US bestseller list in 2015, selling 1.6m copies more than half a century after her Pulitzer-winning first book was published.

       The book was snapped up by avid fans who for decades thought the reclusive author of the 1960s masterpiece To Kill a Mockingbird would never publish another word.
