Dr. Mahesh Sharma Inaugurates a 25 Panel Exhibition Titled ‘Mohan Se Mahatma Tak’ at Rajghat Samadhi Samiti
        On the 68th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Mahesh Sharma, the Minister of State (I/C) for Tourism and Culture inaugurated a 25 panel Exhibition titled ‘Mohan se Mahatma Tak’ based on the evolution of Gandhiji from a mere ‘Monia’, his childhood name to Mahtma highlighting his experiences and struggles that shaped his life to the point of being the Father of the Nation.
        Shri Babul Supriyo, the Minister of State for Urban Development presided over the function. Sri Ramcharitmanas fame Shri Morari Bapu and many dignitaries graced the occasion.
Fukuoka to host 2021 World Aquatics Championships
        The Japanese city of Fukuoka will host the 2021 World Aquatics Championships, with the Qatari capital Doha staging them two years later, the International Swimming Federation (Fina)
        The decision was made after a vote of the Fina executive committee in Budapest. Held every two years, the Aquatics include world championships in swimming, diving, synchronised swimming and water-polo
        They were held in the Russian city of Kazan last year and will go to Budapest in 2017 and Gwangju in South Korea in 2019.
Tom Hanks is America’s favourite movie star
       Tom Hanks is officially America’s favourite Hollywood star. The Bridge of Spies actor topped the annual Harris Poll which drew the results from a survey of over 2,200 adults.
       His closest competitor was actor Johnny Depp who most recently starred as real-life mobster Whitey Bulger in Black Mass.
Abhinav Bindra honoured by ISSF
       Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra has been awarded the Diploma of Honour and President’s Button by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) as an acknowledgment to his “contribution as an athlete” to the sport.
New 83-million-year-old, rare dinosaur species identified
       Researchers have identified and named an 83-million-years-old species of a rare, primitive duck-billed dinosaur, after studying its fossils discovered in the eastern United States.
       This new discovery also shows that duck-billed dinosaurs originated in the eastern US, what was then broadly referred to as Appalachia, before dispersing to other parts of the world.
       The researchers have named the new dinosaur Eotrachodon orientalis , which means “dawn rough tooth from the East.”
Chennupati Jagadish, Jay Chandra honoured with Order of Australia
       Chennupati Jagadish and Jay Chandra, Indian-origin persons, were honoured with the Order of Australia, highest civilian honour of Australia on the occasion of the Australia Day.
Kerala dentist Sajeev Koshy honoured with Order of Australia
       A Kerala dentist Sajeev Koshy settled in Melbourne was honoured with the highest civilian honour, the Order of Australia.
       Koshy was given the award for his service to dentistry in Victoria, Australia. He was honoured on the Australia Day Awards 2016, by the Governor General of Australia.
Rod Laver honoured with Companion of the order of Australia
       Rodney George Laver honoured with the Companion of the order of on the occasion of the Australia Day.
       He was conferred with the award for eminent service to tennis as a player, representative and mentor, at the national and international level, and as a role model for young sportsmen and women.
Van der Horst, Welten of Netherlands named 2015′s best hockey players
       The International Hockey Federation or FIH has named Robert Van der Horst and Lidewij Welten of Netherlands as the 2015 Players of the Year in the men’s and women’s categories respectively.
       India’s Akashdeep Singh missed out on the junior player award.
       Ruhr beat Indian striker Akashdeep, Australian Blake Govers, and two others for the award.
       Lily Owsley, the England and Great Britain forward has been named as the FIH’s Rising Star of the Year for 2015.
PM Narendra Modi, Presient Hollande visit government museum, gallery in Chandigarh
       Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Francois Hollande visited the Government Museum and Art Gallery after French President arrived India on a three-day official visit to India.
Bachchan & Chopra – brand ambassadors for Incredible India campaign
       Actors Amitabh Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra will replace Aamir Khan as new ambassadors of the Incredible India campaign to market the country to tourists abroad.
       Bollywood veteran Mr Bachchan, 73, the brand ambassador of Gujarat Tourism, had been picked for the position some time ago.
Adele’s Hello enters Guinness Book of World Records
       Adele, the singer-songwriter’s music track ‘Hello’ has achieved a ten-digit viewcount on YouTube.
       By achieving that feat in just 88 days, it has entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest video to one billion YouTube hits.
       ‘Hello’ arrived on YouTube in October 2015.
BCCI banned Ajit Chandila & Hiken Shah for involvement in 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal
       The Disciplinary Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) pronounced the orders in the cases related to the involvement of Ajit Chandila and Hiken Shah in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal.
Analjit Singh resigned as chairman of Max Financial Services Ltd
       Analjit Singh resigned as the Chairman of Max Financial Services Ltd following the demerger of Max India Ltd. However, Singh will continue to serve as Chairman of Max Ventures and Industries Ltd.
       Singh will also be the Chairman Emeritus and a permanent invitee to the boards and committees of all Max Group companies.
Marat Safin Inducted Into International Tennis Hall of Fame
       Former World Number one tennis player Marat Safin of Russia has joined the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
       The official ceremony to induct the Russian tennis player has been scheduled for July 16, 2016.

       Actor Kamal Hassan and director Gautam Ghosh has been included in the Shyam Benegal committee.
       The committee has been recently set by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcast to look into the functioning of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Ronaldinho announced as Brand Ambassador of Nagjee International Club Football Tournament 
·        The former Barcelona and AC Milan player Ronaldinho was announced as the Brand Ambassador of the Nagjee International Club Football Tournament. 
·        The tournament will be held at the Corporation Stadium in Kozhikode, Kerala from 5 February 2016 to 21 February 2016.
·        The legendary footballer was a part of Brazil's 2002 World Cup winning squad and played an important role in the world's biggest sporting extravaganza.

·        Based on the recent ‘International World Leader Index’ survey, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been voted as the seventh most popular leader in the world. In the survey, people from across 65 countries across the world were asked to vote and Modi got a favourable view from 24 percent of people.

        The prestigious Yale School of Management will name its deanship in honour of PepsiCo’s India-born CEO Indra Nooyi as she gifted an undisclosed amount to her alma mater, becoming the school’s biggest alumni donor and the first woman to endow a deanship at a top b-school.
Azim Premji the ‘most generous Indian’ in Hurun India Philanthropy List 2015
        Azim Premji has emerged as the ‘most generous Indian’ in the Hurun India Philanthropy List 2015, a ranking of the most generous individuals from India.
        Premji donated Rs 27,514 crore for education through The Azim Premji foundation.
        The foundation works in 8 states and has more than 350,000 schools.

        The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has approved financial assistance to Seema Antil Punia, Athlete from NSDF for training and other support as part of preparation for Olympics 2016. She has been allocated a budget of Rs 75.00 lacs under the scheme.
Financial assistance from National Sports Development Fund to Vikas Krishan (Boxing) for availing of the services of a Psychologist
        The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has approved financial assistance to Boxer Vikas Krishan for availing of the services of Dr. Rajesh Kumar as personal Psychologist till Olympics 2016.
        The rate of fee will be Rs 1800.00 per session as per the norms prescribed under the TOP Scheme.

        The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has approved financial assistance to Boxer Sumit Sangwan under Target Olympic Podium (TOP) Scheme for financial assistance from National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) for training and other support as part of preparation for Olympics 2016.
        He has been allocated a budget of Rs 30.00 lacs under the scheme.

Amputee mountaineer Arunima Sinha scales Mount Aconcagua in Argentina
        Arunima Sinha, the amputee mountaineer who set a record by conquering Mount Everest, has added another feather to her cap by conquering Mount Aconcagua in Argentina.
        Arunima lost her left leg in a train accident in 2011 and she surprised the world by scaling Mt. Everest on May 21, 2013.

Government to roll out DBT scheme for kerosene from April 1, 2016
        The Union Government is going to roll out LPG-like Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme for kerosene from 1st April 2016.
        The scheme in the initial phase will be implemented in selected 26 districts of eight states.
Government constitute Kamlesh Chandra Committee to study wage structure of Gramin Dak Sevaks
        The Union Government has constituted a committee to examine the wage structure, service conditions of the Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) in the Department of Posts (DoP).
        It is one member committee comprising of Kamlesh Chandra, Retired Member of Postal Services Board.
        The Committee will be assisted by Senior Administrative Grade Officer T.Q. Mohammad who will act as Secretary to the GDS Committee.
Union Government constitutes Shyam Benegal Committee to revamp Central Board of Film Censors
        The Union Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has constituted a committee headed by noted film-maker Shyam Benegal to look into revamp the film certification nuances by Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC).
        The committee is tasked to suggest recommendations provide a holistic framework and interpretation of provisions of Cinematograph Act, 1952 and Cinematograph (Certification) Rules, 1983.
2016 is year of LPG consumers
        The government declared 2016 as the ‘Year of LPG Consumers’ and vowed to make clean cooking fuel available to every household by 2018.

        In the coming three calendar years 2016, 2017 and 2018, Government will set an ambitious target to provide clean cooking fuel to entire population
